Booster and health plan reminders that pet owners act on

How veterinary practices can turn vaccination, flea and worm and health check reminders into booked appointments: timing, channels, booking in the same conversation and following up the owners who don't reply.

Reminders keep pets protected and diaries full

Booster vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and annual health checks keep pets healthy, and they are a steady source of appointments for your practice. But owners are busy, and a reminder that arrives at the wrong time on the wrong channel is easy to forget.

Many practices send reminders and stop there. The owners who respond book in, and nobody has time to chase the rest until the booster has lapsed.

Time reminders to the pet, not the calendar

Send booster reminders a few weeks before they're due, so owners can find a slot before the vaccination lapses, and follow up if they don't respond. Flea and worm reminders work best timed to when the last treatment runs out, and health check reminders can be linked to the pet's birthday or health plan.

Use the channel owners actually read

Some owners respond to an email, many reply faster on WhatsApp or SMS, and some only answer a call. Record each client's preferred channel and use it, and switch channel when the first reminder gets no reply.

Book in the same conversation

The best reminder lets the owner book there and then. A reminder agent can offer real appointment times with a vet or nurse in the message itself, book the one the owner chooses, and send a confirmation.

Owners who reply “next month” are offered a later date rather than dropping off the list, and owners whose pet has died or moved practice are updated so they stop receiving reminders, which matters a great deal to grieving owners.

Health plans and renewals

If your practice offers a pet health plan, reminders are also a chance to remind members what's included and when their next treatment is due. Owners who aren't on a plan can be told about it, with the details your practice approves, and offered a call with the team.

What to measure

  • Booking rate. The share of reminders that led to a booked appointment, by reminder type.
  • Lapsed vaccinations. How many pets went past their booster date without being booked.
  • Channel performance. Which channels lead to bookings for which clients.
  • Health plan sign-ups. Owners who joined a plan after a reminder conversation.
